As I turned the pages of Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, I began to imagine his message to the early church—and wondered, does it still speak to us today?

Without question, the Word of God remains alive and active. We cannot escape its truth. Could it be that God is still intentional with His church? Maybe you’ve asked yourself why, after accepting Christ, God has kept you here instead of taking you home. The answer is profound: the message you received wasn’t just for you—it’s for the whole world. If God had taken you the moment you confessed Christ, who would carry the message to others?

Let’s explore this scripture together. Listen closely. Write down the convictions God places on your heart—and act on them.

Scripture Foundation

II Corinthians 2:14–16 (NKJV) [14] Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us DIFFUSES the fragrance of His knowledge IN EVERY PLACE. [15] For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. [16] To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things?

The Science of Diffusion and the Spread of the Gospel

Science defines diffusion as the movement of particles from a region of high concentration to one of low concentration until equilibrium is reached. Paul’s metaphor is striking: “…through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.” This is not poetic imagery—it’s spiritual reality. But it raises a question: when will equilibrium be reached? And who are the particles responsible for this movement?

Let’s explore four key factors that affect diffusion and how they mirror the dynamics of gospel spread:

  1. Temperature: Persecution as Spiritual Heat
    In science, higher temperatures accelerate diffusion. In Acts, after Stephen’s martyrdom, persecution intensified—and so did the spread of the gospel. Were it not for that, there’s a possibility that the gospel would have taken much longer to reach us even. There’s a high possibility for God being the one behind that wind of persecution. He possibly did that to teach the early church certain lessons. They were to step out and defend the gospel. Consider this scripture;

Acts 8:4–5 (NKJV) [4] Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. [5] Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them.

For 13 years, the gospel remained largely within Judea. But God’s plan was broader: Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth. He had said clearly that we shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon us and we shall be witnesses of the gospel from both Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth. Every place was to be captured at a go. However, this wasn’t the case. God had to allow something to happen. And that was persecution. Persecution became the heat that stirred the church into motion. Today, persecution still exists. Hostile communities resist the gospel—but they need it just as we once did. Yet many of us remain comfortable within our church walls while nations wait. What is God saying to you about this?

  1. Concentration Gradient: Reaching the Unreached
Diffusion occurs when particles move from areas of high concentration to low. Spiritually, this means the growing church should be drawn toward places with little or no gospel presence. But the question remains, where is our main focus? Are there places where Christ is not yet mentioned? Yes, there are even in our country (Kenya) among many other countries. How are we involved in seeing everywhere covered?

Romans 15:20–21 (NKJV) [20] And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man’s foundation, [21] but as it is written: “To whom He was not announced, they shall see; And those who have not heard shall understand.”

Even here in Kenya, 31 people groups still await the gospel. Globally, over 7,000 people groups remain unreached. However, we find ourselves always rotating around the same place. Surprisingly, there are places where no one is there to preach. They have never seen a church nor a Christian. Other places with little efforts to reach them, one person or two in a whole community of thousands even millions. Some of these communities don’t even have a Bible in their language. Our resources are needed for the Bible to be translated to their language; both human and financial resources. If you’re truly born again, this should stir your heart. Write down what God is placing in you—and act.

  1. Molecular Size: The Power of Small Communities
Smaller molecules diffuse faster. Likewise, the early church thrived in intimate, house-based fellowships where everyone was known and cared for. What transpired from these communities was a blow. Every member was concerned about the other, even to those who were out peddling the gospel. They all received comfort, significance and security in their presence or absence. It didn’t matter the location or denomination. What mattered was the gospel. Love was the unifying factor among them. The purpose was clear to all. Their pursuit was one; to know God and make Him known. They did this with their substances following after words. They acted out in prompt obedience.

Colossians 4:15 (NKJV) Greet the brethren who are in Laodicea, and Nymphas and the church that is in his house.
I Corinthians 16:19 (NKJV) The churches of Asia greet you. Aquila and Priscilla greet you heartily in the Lord, with the church that is in their house.

These verses tell us how close-knit church fellowships made such a great impact in the Kingdom of God. They were all determined to take part in the spreading of the gospel even if they weren’t present in the areas of great need. They were all concerned about what the apostles were doing among those communities they were preaching to. We should as well be concerned about those who have risked going among different communities crossing cultures of which some are quite hostile. It should be part of our primary concern. We have no place to neglect this.

Today, mega churches offer many blessings, but they can also breed anonymity and comfort. The burden for the lost has been delegated to committees, rather than embraced by every believer. The need for everyone getting involved in the spreading of the gospel has escaped our hearts. The message of the Kingdom is missing in our
lips. Words of comfort and assurance have covered our ears. It is true God desires to bless us, but He has also called us to suffer for the gospel’s sake. Pursuing peace with everyone is not an excuse for not preaching the gospel. Everyone MUST hear it. What is God convicting you to do?

  1. Diffusion Distance: Reaching Those Nearby
Diffusion is faster over short distances. Early missionaries crossed oceans, endured illness, and faced cultural barriers to bring the gospel to us. Others even died along the way, others suffered chronic illnesses that were not present in their countries while others survived on a thin line. They even didn’t know our languages, were not familiar with our food, and took a long time to integrate with our culture. This is how
hard it was for them to bring the gospel to us. Today, many unreached people are right next door—Muslims, Hindus, atheists, traditionalists. They eat our food, speak our language, and share our culture. The harvest is near. They all need to hear the gospel. Are we willing to reach across the fence? This verse gives us a slight perspective of the deficiency of the gospel in the 1st Century. Paul had to become everything to all men. Today, the people we’re to meet are just near us. There is no problem with food, we eat the same food. No problem with language, we all have a common language. They have already become like one of us and the barrier is highly reduced. It’s upon us to initiate conversations and walk a journey with them. Should this matter to us? Does it matter to you? Put down your convictions and take actions on them.

I Corinthians 9:19-23 (NKJV) [19] For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; [20] and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; [21] to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; [22] to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. [23] Now this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.

Final Conviction

Science teaches us principles that mirror spiritual truths. If the church truly understood that we are the fragrance of Christ—both to those being saved and those perishing—we would live with greater intentionality. We would look beyond ourselves and see the lost. This matters to you. It matters to me. Most of all, it matters to God.

The world is waiting.

You’re Not Helpless Against Sin https://globalactivation.africa/1116/ https://globalactivation.africa/1116/#comments Mon, 14 Oct 2024 17:22:36 +0000 https://globalactivation.africa/?p=1116 A few years ago, I used to wonder how I will ever deal with sin. I used to repent and seek forgiveness only to go back to the same sins again. I would then come back to God after sinning and would do a more serious prayer and hope that it’s over. That I will not sin again. Only to be disappointed in a few days’ time. I would still go back to the same sins again. My heart was wailing inside me. How I wished someone or something could come and assassinate the sinful nature in me. I longed for redemption and deliverance from this undesirable state. I really desired to obey God fully but would feel weighed down by my sin. I actually thought that God would not use someone like me. That such people like me were not fit for the King’s service. I would think to myself that everything is wrong with me and I’m too far deep into my lies, secular movies and music and pornography.

My sinful state made me tremble whenever I heard or read the word ‘heaven’ in my Bible. For I knew that my state compromised my heavenly candidature. The mention of ‘hell’ shook my heart really hard. I finally had a breakthrough and victory over sin and have been living as a vessel that is set apart for God’s noble purpose. I live a happy life now, but it has been quite a journey to this point. I’m always grateful to God for the victory over sin, the truth that has continually put me on a path of total freedom and obedience to God.

This was my case but I believe that there are others who have been in such a situation. There are those who are currently in this exact situation. Those who are deep in sin, thinking to themselves that they are too far gone. That they are helpless and can do nothing about the situation. So, they continue in that path of sin knowing very well that it leads to hell. When confronted with the truth about their condition, they respond “you don’t understand”. To them it is easier to give in to the demands of the flesh and blame other things and people for the consequences of a sinful lifestyle. In some weird cases, they may even blame God.

Satan, who is like a roaring lion, is always on the hunt, looking for vessels to live in. He dwells inside and executes his schemes from within that vessel. He destroys that vessel and when the person dies, Satan doesn’t die with him or her. He moves out and his hunting mission continues. He implements his manifesto by always tempting those who are not members of his kingdom. And when he finds an opportunity, he does his best to retain his catch. He diverts attention and reflects the blame and sticks to the mission. This is what he was doing in me. He was on my case and was determined to retain me.

My struggles with sin were partly due to the fact that I didn’t bring all my woes and concerns to the One Who is capable of offering the ultimate help. I tried on my own and failed all the time. I thought more repentance will work, it didn’t. I tried praying more and still the downward spiral continued. With the victory I now have, I now know that any sinner is not helpless for there is an ever present help in the Helper. There is hope for redemption because Someone Who rules the universe is ever ready to deal with sin – Jesus our Lord and Helper. He got me out of the mess and got me a new life. Something changed in me. How I approach life, how I see sin and myself has since changed. I stopped relying on my own ways and abilities. I stopped assuming that I will make it on my own. I embraced the Cross. I stopped going to places and associating with things that tempted me. Serious discipleship has taken place in me. The journey has been worth the effort.

Some believe that once they are born again, it is over. That they will never sin again. They believe that they don’t have a responsibility to watch out for their lifestyles. That since they are born again, all will be well. They then get disappointed when they find themselves deep in sin yet they call themselves Christians. I believe that the believer has a very big role of relying wholly on the grace of God and refraining from sinful activities. That he is responsible for his eyes, ears, mouth and legs to ensure that any of the organs don’t lead the believer into sin. He has to continually renew the mind so that it agrees with scriptures. The believer has the responsibility to guard the heart, to pray and come to Jesus for help at every point. The answer is the Cross where Jesus crushed the power of sin and set men free. Look to the Cross, not to yourself and find the help to live in victory.

Taking Unclaimed Territories https://globalactivation.africa/taking-unclaimed-territories/ https://globalactivation.africa/taking-unclaimed-territories/#comments Mon, 14 Oct 2024 17:20:40 +0000 https://globalactivation.africa/?p=1114 The Bible is full of promises that God Himself has given and guaranteed. We know that what He says is the absolute truth and He is more than capable to do even far greater than we can imagine. His ineffable word confirms it all. But wonder of wonders is that very few lay claims to the promises that He has given. Few chase these promises whose eternal consequences are far reaching. One of such promises is Psalms 2:8 “Ask of Me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth as Your possessions” (AMP)

Put in the context of missions, the nations refer to the unreached. Those countries and people groups that have little or no access to the saving gospel. And God is confirming what Jesus taught in Luke 11:9-10 “ask and it will be given to you…” That when we ask He will indeed give to us. He encourages us to ask and indeed we will have what we ask for. But how many ask for nations? How many pray and fast for souls? How many intensively plead with God on behalf of the lost, the unreached? These are personal questions which each believer should answer. Praying is the least a disciple should do. It is by praying that we stake a claim to the nations. We make our intentions to take over a given territory known.

It is not true that God simply hands us conquered territories— that all we need to do is ask. While asking is important, it is not enough. If all we did was asking for nations in prayer and didn’t go out to collect the inheritance of nations, then the enemy will continue to occupy territories which are rightfully ours. A good case is that of the Israelites, God promised them a territory flowing with milk and honey. This promise was sure it could not fail whatsoever. All the Israelites needed to do was just go get what God had promised them. But it was not handed over to them on a silver platter. They had to fight many battles as recorded in the book of Exodus and the book of Joshua.

Kingdoms and nations advance by conquest. The Bible has many records of wars and battles that kingdoms engaged in their quest to expand their territories. One of the reasons the Israelites asked for a king was because they needed someone to lead them in battle. The nations which are our inheritance will not be collected without conquest. This is the reason we have missionaries at the frontlines of missions engaging the strongholds that have enslaved the people of God. They deploy weapons of warfare with an aim to see every knee bow to Jesus. They expand the kingdom territory by making disciples among the unreached. It is good that I emphasize that this is not physical warfare. It does not mean slaughtering those who are not followers of Jesus. It is working towards walking with them on a journey of discipleship, to help them see the Truth and escape a Christ-less eternity.

God is ready is to give us nations, His desire is to do so. The desire to see “the knowledge of His glory filling the earth as the waters covers the sea” remains a promise He is willing to see come to pass. He will give nations to those who are willing to get out there and contend for souls. Those who will dare to dream big. Those who will step out of the normal and take possession.

A Joshua generation must arise. A generation that is set in their hearts to see every land and nation God has promised under the control of the Almighty. A generation of fighters who will drive out the giants. Theirs will be the Kingdom, they will surely inherit it. I stand to be counted among those who will engage God till His promises of giving us nations comes to pass. Why should it be that what our God has given remains uncollected yet I’m here? Jesus paid for the salvation of nations but He is yet to receive it. By His grace I will do my part.

Myth of “Part-time” Christian https://globalactivation.africa/the-myth-of-the-part-time-christian/ https://globalactivation.africa/the-myth-of-the-part-time-christian/#comments Mon, 14 Oct 2024 17:18:27 +0000 https://globalactivation.africa/?p=1112

Believers of today identify themselves as either “part-time” or “full-time” in matters of ministry. They use the frequency of doing certain things as the standard of deciding to which category they belong. We argue that some Christians workers are part-time while others are full-time. However, this view is not consistent with the Bible. So, let’s look a little deeper into the dangers of being a ‘part-timer’ and what the bible says about this matter.

When we say that some are full-time ministers of the gospel and some are not, we excuse the part-timers from some commands given by Jesus. The commands by Jesus were and still are to all who are called by His Name – all those who identify themselves as Christians. The commands like “go and make disciples of all nations ….” are left to the ‘full-timers’ and part-timers exclude themselves from such commands. Consequently, this classification assumes that some Christians are exempted from certain spiritual disciplines. That part-timers should not pray as much, study the Word as much and obey Jesus like the ‘full-timers’ should. This introduces a second-class Christianity in which much is demanded from the full-timers but little from the others. This is evident in our times as it is assumed that only pastors and missionaries should pray more, study the entire bible, forgive and love everyone and everybody.

This categorization tends to separate the part-timers from the absolute non-negotiable standards of discipleship. That those on full-time should never sin, no matter the circumstance yet the part-timers can do as they please. They can afford habitual sins; after all they are not full-timers like their pastors. Part-timers assume that they don’t have to live holy lives like other Christians who are full-time. They are the first to comment and point fingers when the full-timers fall into sin. They believe that there are standards for full-timers that are different from those of part-timers. This is deception since all the standards that apply to a missionary and other servants of God who serve full-time also apply to all those who are not. Every disciple of Jesus is bound by scripture no matter the identity or kingdom responsibilities assigned to them.

It is expected that every believer participates in the fulfillment of the Great Commission. It was not God’s intention that only a handful “full-timers” should be involved. Each was meant to play a part. When we divide the Body of Christ into full-timers and part-timers, the part-timers end up not doing much. They say the roles of healing the sick, evangelism and quitting jobs to attend to other kingdom responsibilities are reserved for the full-timers and not them. They say they are not “called”. And they say they have not heard the call. This kind of mentality and the actions of it, robs the part-timers an opportunity to trust God for kingdom responsibility. It limits the level of their depth in God. It makes them not experience God as they should. It limits how much God can use them to execute His agenda.

The part-time believer mentality introduces a dependence mentality. It makes part-timers rely on others for things they should be doing for themselves. They rely on the full-timers to pray for them and to attend to all their life issues. They depend on full-timers to study the Bible and then preach it to them. They rely on others to help them out on all spiritual matters. This is the reason a congregation of “part-time” believers can rely and look to the anointing of the full-timers.

The full-timers develop an entitlement mentality. They feel entitled to receiving offerings and support and to be treated in a special manner by the part-timers. I have been to events and meetings that the clergy are in attendance and from how they are treated, everyone can tell that there is a clear distinction between them and the rest of the people present. They feel entitled because they have left their jobs and “sacrificed” more than everyone else.

There is no portion of the Bible that teaches that the Body of Christ is divided into full-time and part-time believers. In fact, all believers are and should always be full-time. We are full-time soldiers of the Cross. Our lights should keep shinning during the day and during the night. Jesus looked up to the Father Who is always working. Our Lord Jesus is always working and so should you and I. How can we afford to be part-time while our Lord is full-time? The Church is a Body and we all are parts of that Body. And just like a living body, there is no part-time heart or part-time brain or eye. All parts of the body are ever full-time. What kind of a body would it be if some organs were part-time? This dichotomy has caused the Church to regress and believers should do away with it. It’s a myth that is highly deceptive.

If you are not full-time with Jesus, then you are ‘No-time’ at all with Him.

Standing Tough Against Opposition https://globalactivation.africa/standing-tough-against-opposition/ https://globalactivation.africa/standing-tough-against-opposition/#comments Sun, 13 Oct 2024 16:07:40 +0000 https://globalactivation.africa/?p=937 What do you do if you’re a young high school girl who is set to live for Jesus but your entire family is deep in Islam? When all your family members are against your association with Christians? When they are tracking all your moves and wooing you back to their religion? To whom do you run?

This was the case with one of the young disciples in one of our fields in Northern Kenya. We will call her “Diramu”. I work as a teacher in a high school that is located in an unreached area but with a focus to disciple the students and members of the community. Most of the students are from Muslim backgrounds, and almost all are learning about Jesus for the first time. The few who had converted to Christianity are swimming against the tide to remain in Christ. A number have been persecuted and beaten back into Islam. Others have remained and by the grace of God, I have seen transformation and growth in their lives.

It was during one of my times of prayer and meditation that God revealed Diramu’s situation to me. That is when I started taking note of her spiritual walk. I called her for a discussion and compared her story with what God had revealed to me. The two matched and I knew God was preparing her for something. She had many questions and initially didn’t want to expose her struggles. She was looking for answers and didn’t know where to turn to. I’m grateful to have been there during that season. I came to learn how her family is deep into Islam and she was the only believer in the entire family. She has been under great pressure to re-convert to Islam. I came to learn that she would only attend church services or associate with Christians while in school. At home, this was impossible.

Since then I have walked with Diramu and she now knows the Truth. She knows why she is a follower of Jesus and is determined to keep her faith. She has embraced Jesus and He has become so dear to her that she is willing to openly express her faith. We have studied the Word together and we have prayed and met several times in between her regular classes. I have watched Diramu grow spiritually to the point she can now stand on her own. Something has happened to her. She is now as bold as a lion. Diramu ended up performing well academically and has since joined a university in a city far away from here. I continue to walk with her from there and visit her whenever possible.

I see potential, I see a disciple-maker in her. One capable of reaching her family with the Gospel. I see a vessel that God can use to minister and reveal Himself to her Muslim family. I choose to believe and pray that God will use her life and testimony to make His Name known and revered among her family members.

This is just one story among many Muslim students waiting to be discipled to follow Christ. A growing number of young Muslims are searching for Jesus. I’m grateful to the Lord that my presence here has provided me with opportunities to disciple dozens of Muslims. It is my profession that strategically placed me here to bear a Kingdom responsibility; I have a bigger responsibility than to give them an education. I must give them Jesus.
